Paul Devro is the Man — And He’s Coming

This Friday, Paul Devro, co-founder of Mad Decent records and world-traveling DJ, will bring a high-voltage sound system, a crate of records, and a brimming laptop hard drive here to Eugene, Oregon, an uncharacteristically small town on his usual circuit of major metropolitans. His intention is simple: to transform the barren ballroom of the Veterans’ Memorial Building into a freaky, ecstatic, and sweat-soaked club jungle. Come away with him.

Although Devro is by no means a household name, his remixes, mixtapes, collaborations, and bloggings have probably had a musical impact on you or someone you love. He has toured with top dogs like A-Trak and Justice and has worked closely with Mad Decent artists like Diplo and Maluca.

Andy “Sassy Mouff” Connell and Zane “Champagne Front” Coffin, the two Eugene DJs responsible for bringing Them Jeans to The District back in February (see page 24 of our Cash Money Issue), are once again behind this awesome electronic music experience. Connell and Coffin, two of the four artists on Tagbak Records, are scheduled to open up for Devro.

Known for his global music interests, Devro is expected to play a little bit of everything, from electro to hip hop, cumbia to baile funk, dubstep to moombahton. Devro has also announced that he will play unreleased tracks by Major Lazer. Do not miss this.

Where: Vet’s Memorial Building Ballroom, 1626 Willamette Street

When: Friday, April 1, 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.

About: $8 at the door. All ages. Bar downstairs for 21+.
